Hackers Are Buying Google Ads To Capture Sensitive Company Data. Here’s How To Protect Yourself.

HOW IS THIS HAPPENING?

Attackers create ads and websites that mimic legitimate companies, but when you click on their ads, they deliver malware instead of what you’re looking for. They are also using fake Google Ads login pages to trick advertisers into providing account credentials. They use Google Sites to host these convincing phishing pages, making it hard to distinguish from real Google ads.

WHAT IS THE WEAKNESS?

The consequences for users are data theft, system compromise, and malware network spread. Google says it’s investigating and addressing the issue. They are suspending accounts that distribute malware or violate their policies. Google says it’s blocked and removed billions of ads and suspended millions of advertiser accounts, utilizing AI to enhance detection.
